Great River Energy has been toured by local, national and international groups to demonstrate innovations in energy conservation, renewable energy and alternative forms of energy. Great River Energy has hosted many Energy City tours. The most notable took place in May of 2002 when the United States Department of Commerce Special American Business Internship Training Program brought seventeen participants from the Russian Far East to the U.S. for a study/training program focused on renewable alternative energy sources. The program included a tour of Great River Energy.

Great River Energy was honored by the City of Elk River and the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce in 2002 during Minnesota Manufacturing and Technology Week. Great River Energy hosted the keynote address at which the speaker discussed the importance and future of the energy industry.
